The Night Country

for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

the loneliest chocolate

      words by fireball

We were
the life
of the party.
The laughter
and the light
crowded 'round.
But slowly
everybody
went and left me
All alone
when the lights
went down.

Everybody
loves a box
full of chocolates,
With a party
or a lover
or a friend.
One by one
they get eaten
sweets
for the sweetened
Till there's just
one lone chocolate
in the end.

This thin [THIS THIN]
chocolate skin [CHOCOLATE SKIN]
Ain't enough... Ain't enough to hide
The proof [THE PROOF]
of the pudding [OF THE PUDDING]
What's under the hooding
No one wants what I've got inside

They say life
is like a box
of chocolates.
You got your candies,
and your caramels,
and your cremes,
Some exotic
things of beauty,
Some...
kinda fruity.
Oh, this life
is a thing of
extremes.

Everybody
loves a box
full of chocolates,
For a dinner
or a meeting
or a date.
One by one
they get taken
Feel my chocolate
heart breakin'
Till there's just
one lone chocolate
on the plate.

This thin [THIS THIN]
chocolate skin [CHOCOLATE SKIN]
Ain't enough... Ain't enough to hide
The proof [THE PROOF]
of the pudding [OF THE PUDDING]
What's under the hooding
No one wants what I've got inside.

Born in [BORN IN]
this chocolate skin [CHOCOLATE SKIN]
No one wants what I've got inside.
Now all of the chocs
are gone from the box
I'm so lonely, and there's nowhere to hide.

Born in [BORN IN]
this chocolate skin [CHOCOLATE SKIN]
No one wants what I've got inside.
I'm just a bit smelly
and I'm filled with mint jelly.
I'm so lonely, and there's nowhere to hide.
