The Night Country

for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

Once we lived in nearby countries,
Long long ago.
Almost neighbors on the continent we were.
Once we played like we were brothers,
Oh, don't you know...
Before the fires inside began to stir.
Once upon a time was fine
But years come and go
And slowly the lines begin to blur...

The way we lived long long ago.

Once we shared a common land
Far far away.
Rich and fertile motherland she was.
Once we reached down in the earth,
Sculpted the clay.
The way any young creator does.
Once I ran along beside you
Wild we would play
Drunk with the spring nectar buzz...

When we lived far far away.

Once we spoke a common language,
Sweet sweet to hear.
How I soaked up every sound you made.
Once our voices flowed together,
Cozy and near.
We marched together through the days on parade.
Once it was, but now the music's
Gone from my ear.
All the times now my mind has replayed...

The words we spoke sweet sweet to hear.

Once we lived in nearby countries,
Long long ago.
Almost neighbors on the continent we were.
