eat yer hat

      words by fireball
music and performance by april souza
      searcy, arkansas
bass and tambourine added by fireball

April come she will
When streams are ripe and peaches fat
The perfect ear
The words will hear
April she will eat her hat

Winter came she did
In all her bluster and her storm
But not the first
And through the worst
We bear the cold and await the warm

Tomorrow come she will
On wings that brighten up the sky
And although
The planets slow
Tomorrow quickly she will fly

Long nights come they have
In black so deep the eyes forget
the golden rays
of summer days
The waters unfrozen and wet

Summer come she will
To blot the ling'ring hours of night
That ever higher
Ball of fire
Summer she will spread her light

Patience come she will
Give an inch and take a mile
Breathing deep
Through winter's sleep
Patience still alright to smile

April come she will
When dreams are ripe and futures fat
The thoughts will find
The perfect mind
April she will eat her hat
