The Night Country

for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

Took off their shades
Watched the clouds move in
Glanced up toward heaven
And back down again
Gathered their scattered things
Let the night begin

      the breeze starts to whisper an empty little sound
      the paths through the dark woods wind back to town
      the green gone from every summer leaf on the ground
      and down
      falls
      the rain

So long ago
As summertime came on
Took off their clothes
Laid out on the lawn
No thoughts of autumn
What might lie beyond
           mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
      Went their separate ways with the last of the fading light
      Memories still warm will linger through the night
      All the lonely footsteps through new mud on the ground
      and down

      the rain
