The Night Country
for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

clouds roll south
      words by fireball
Old rocking chair held together by a mile of ragged twine
clouds roll south up the hill
We seed the clouds in our skies for to watch our gardens grow
clouds roll south up the hill
(bridge or instrumental break)

Forlorn creaky porch where he put his hand in mine
Now my hand strokes your neck, you sweet jug of wine,
you and I
lullaby
lullaby
Cold autumn rain fell so hard on this cabin in the pines
Dance to keep warm waiting for the sun to shine
Now your taste on my lips, you sweet jug of wine,
high and dry
lullaby
lullaby
storms got places to go
he will come again, I know, I know
he will
clouds roll south up the hill
Rains bittersweet fall on faces down below
Now I feel my horizons, you warm north winds blow,
you and I
lullaby
lullaby
I cannot follow o'er the hillside where the wild weather goes
Just the dreams of the storms that we shared long ago
Now I breathe in the winds, wait for what the wine must know,
by and by
lullaby

storms got places to go
he will come again, I know, I know
he will
clouds roll south up the hill
