The Night Country

for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

spaceship from portland

      words by fireball
music and performance by sarah mitchell
beamed to earth from the international space station

That faraway look in your eyes
held me
I wonder what you're looking for
but you'd never tell me
You're a dreamer
Sometimes I'm one, too.
You dreamed of spaceships
I dreamed of you
My dream has ended
Now what I'm gonna do
Is fly on home.

Don't worry.
My memories of
Your eyes and that faraway look
Are the only things that I took.
I hope that one day you finish that book.
The one that you're writing.

But don't call me.
On some fine
Occasion I will send you a card
Some dreams fly and some go down hard.
I hope that one day you finish
      that spaceship
           that you're building
                in the back yard.

That faraway look in your eyes
Will always be here, though I'll be gone with the sunrise
You won't be shaken, even if you're surprised
There will be no need for any alibi
Some dreams go down hard
And some dreams fly
