The Night Country

for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

Watching the waves pass by
wave after wave, hard to tell 'em apart
In the flow of the fast moving river
of the people on Shinjuku Boulevard

The river rolls wide in all directions
The flood gets higher every day
In waves like these, no man is an island
but he's gotta figure how to hide some love away

endless waves come rolling
undisturbed tranquility
      oh oh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
an island in a city
on an island in the sea
      oh oh Tokyo

The Yakuza roll from Ikebukuro
With the background Tachikawa buzz
It's a long way back to the monastery
Breathe deep and remember how that was

As the waves lap up against Mejiro
Harajuku floodgates open up and go
And at the confluence down on Kappabashi
Twelve million islands alone in the flow

firestorm meditation
blissful harmony
      ooh ooh oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
an island in a city
on an island in the sea
      ooh ooh HonshÅ«

endless waves come rolling
undisturbed tranquility
      oh oh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
an island in a city
on an island in the sea
      oh oh Tokyo
