A Boy Named Pluto On the horizon there's a boat on the water Reminds me of a boy I once knew Sailing far away from the mainland No passengers, no cargo, no crew The locals all know the boat from legend Nobody even knows what she's called They say she's been around since the thirties They say she never even comes to port at all I knew a boy named Pluto, though I never knew him well Cold and far away from any flame While fickle words spun their circles nearer to the sun Pluto stayed the same We used to sit around, try to guess his story Imagining details we didn't know Wondering what life was like so far outside everything No bio but a faint white glow And for awhile we were caught up in the mystery Stealing glances through the rarefied air Then we decided that the nothing was really nothing Slowly forgetting that he was even there I knew a boy named Pluto, never knew him well Minor figure in a curious game While everybody changed their story, blowing in the wind Pluto stayed the same.
